Local pageant that celebrates beauty and brains among teens, Miss Teen Zimbabwe, has bounced back after a two-year sabbatical, organisers have said.
The pageant’s national director Leslie Gurajena said preparations are on course and auditions will be held tomorrow at Monomotapa Hotel.
‘’We are very confident that this time our pageant will be bigger and better after we shelved the event for the past two years due to financial constraints.
“We are expecting to have many participants coming across the provinces, “he said.
Gurajena said he is confident that the auditions will attract more participants as it will be for free.
“Auditions will be open for the girls between 14 to 19 years of age and it will be free to participate. We urge all aspiring pageants to register in time to avoid any inconvenience.
“We are encouraging all young girls to come in their numbers to the auditions as this is an opportunity that can turn around their modeling dreams,” said Gurajena.
He said the winner will have an opportunity to represent Zimbabwe at the Miss Teen Continents in the United States of America.
Last winner of the pageant was 19-year-old Melissa Chimbodza who had just finished her advanced level at Gateway High School and the last winner for most promising teen was 15 years old from Marlborough High School.
The association has been doing well locally by promoting the young models to realise their dreams.
Rujeko Mushove was Miss Teen Nyanga is now the face of Steward Bank and Miss Teen Bulawayo, Valery Chingodzo, became Miss University and she participated in Miss World Zimbabwe.
“We started in 2010 meaning this is our eighth edition. We have represented the country at international level for six times now,” Gurajena said.
