ORGANISERS for this year Miss Universe Zimbabwe pageant have said this year the event is more of a television production show as much work will be done the previous day of the finale.
The pageant will be held on May 17 at Harare’s Hippodrome amphitheatre where a bevy of 10 finalists will battle it out for the coveted crown.
The winner will represent the country in Thailand this November.
National director Tendai Hunda said this year’s show is bigger and better, though compact and straight to the point.
“This year we are going to do a preshow on May 16 where the top 5 and 3 will be selected but will then be announced on the finale stage on May 17.
“Everything will run according to the script and on the preshow models will do what they will do on the finale, because this will be televised so we want to avoid any loop hole or mistake,” she said.
“The finale will be a two-hour show, quick and straight to the point.”
Hunda said the finalist will enter boot camp for seven days.
“The finalist will enter boot camp on May 10 at a seclude and secret venue. During the bootcamp they will also be given a chance to learn and teach each other life skills and have sessions like grooming and deportment and also learning how to walk.”
“They will also have lifestyle guru expert and some of the renowned model gurus to help them.”
Hunda added that she was calling for corporates to come on board and buy tables to support this initiative.
“Tickets have started selling and we urge the nation to come in their numbers as well support their favourite girl,” she said.
“We will unveil the host and entertainers this week.”
