Reigning Miss Universe, Sheynnis Palacios, has arrived in Zimbabwe for her farmiliarisation tour.
She was met at Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport this evening by Miss Universe Zimbabwe chairperson Colonel Miniyothabo Chiwenga, Miss Universe-Zimbabwe Sakhile Dube, representatives from the Ministry of Tourism and Hospitality Industry, fashion designers and local models.
Speaking to journalists shortly after her arrival, the 24-year-old Nicaraguan could not hide her joy.
“It is our first time in Zimbabwe and we are so happy and grateful to be here,” she said.

She was met at Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport this evening by Miss Universe Zimbabwe chairperson Colonel Miniyothabo Chiwenga, Miss Universe-Zimbabwe Sakhile Dube, representatives from the Ministry of Tourism and Hospitality Industry, fashion designers and local models.
“I am so excited to be here to know about your roots, to know about your gastronomy and most importantly get your energy.”
Palacios, who is set to visit Victoria Falls and other tourist attractions, said the tour was part of her reign as Miss Universe to market other countries.
“This is the 28th country, we never stop,” she said.
“It is an incredible platform that I got from Miss Universe and every single country, that makes me happy.
“Thank you Zimbabwe for welcoming me and my team and for making us feel very comfortable
“I am here to promote Zimbabwe,” she said.

“We celebrate the empowered women, we are proud of you. We are who we are and where we come from,” she said.
Traditional dancers, models and children welcomed her.
Fans jostled to catch the glimpse of Miss Universe as she joined Hwamanda Dance Troupe on the dance floor.
