A total of 30 beauties will battle it out on the catwalk this Thursday as they vie for the Miss Zambia-Zimbabwe title. The winner will walk away with a compound prize including cash and a modelling contract with a South African based agency.

Running under the theme “Natural beauty is glamorous”, this marks the second time that Zimbabwe hosts this pageant in Harare compared to the three times it has been held in Zambia.

The event is courtesy of Unathi Modelling Agency of Zambia headed by Eneless Naomi Banda and Size 4 Agency of Zimbabwe fronted by Wilbert Rukato.

Rukato said: “We have received sponsorship from Devine Assignments. This particular pageant aims to celebrate natural beauty and will see 15 models from each country taking to the ramp. There will be a queen and four runner-ups and all the models are expected to be in camp tomorrow till Saturday.”

Zimbabwe contesters were taken from Harare, Kwekwe, Mutare, Karoi, Bulawayo and Gweru.

The adjudicators were selected from people experienced in modelling show business including top and super models from both countries.

The participants will be judged on runway modelling styles as the pageant is mostly about catwalk modelling as opposed to strict pageant modelling styles.

“This is a growing pageant that we wish to take around the African continent in the near future,” said Rukato.

While in boot camp the models will tour resorts, meet the citizens of Zimbabwe and visit media houses.

The contestants will go through various dress categories including revealing ethnic wear, high fashion casual, national colours outfits and an elegant dinner gowns.

There will be a question and answer segment for the Top 14 models comprising seven from each country.
