The Miss Zimbabwe Trust will today officially unveil three brand new cars meant for the winners of the pageant that is slated for June 14 at Mabvazuva Village. The cars; a Chevrolet “Chevy Cruze” for the queen and two Chevrolet Spark Lite vehicles valued at US$60 000 and were purchased by Miss Zimbabwe Trust chairperson Marry Chiwenga.
Chiwenga spoke on the development.
“The winners will retain ownership of the cars and for that we chose the cars that are easier to maintain. They were bought from a local car dealer and everything has been paid for,” she said.
She said everything was in place for the red carpet event that would be marked by glitz and glamour.
“We have very few sponsors but at this stage they have not given us the green light to announce them.
“However, we assure the nation that everything about the national pageant is of high standard as we want people to be proud of it,” she said.
Among the delights Miss Zimbabwe organisers are proud of is a glass tent the trust hired at US$50 000 for the event.
A glass tent has been used at high profile events including the Zimbabwe National Army Golf Tournament and Bona and Simba Chikore’s wedding earlier this year.
Twenty Miss Zimbabwe contestants from different provinces are in a three-week boot camp and six more are expected to join the team when they complete writing exams at various universities.
The theme of the pageant is “Taking Zim-Asset to Greater Heights”.
“Our theme is our way of pushing this crucial agenda in the country especially among the young people.
“They have had lectures on the policy so that they do not sit back and be recipients but participants in the empowerment policy” said Chiwenga.
