MISS World Zimbabwe Annie-Grace Mutambu is wrapping up her Beauty with a Purpose Project as her preparations for the Miss World pageant gather momentum.
The beauty queen who replaced Emily Kachote who was dethroned earlier in the year, is expected to leave the country for Sanya, China next week Thursday. There, she will meet over 100 other contestants for a month-long boot camp ahead of the world contest being held at the Crown of Beauty Theatre on December 19.
Miss Zimbabwe Trust spokesperson Tendai Chirau said the leggy model was wrapping up her project which involves raising awareness on the plight of albinos.
“Annie has been working closely with the Albinos Charity Organisation of Zimbabwe (ALCOZ) that deals with the plight of children living with albinism,” Chirau said.
“During her interactions, she found out that the children needed spectacles and sunscreen. She raised $4,000 to purchase those essential items and took about 50 children for eye checks.”
Her charity project was being filmed and will be shown in China during the Miss World boot camp. Beauty with a Purpose accounts for half of the total marks that a contestant gets at the Miss World contest with the winner automatically securing a spot at the semi-finals.
The national queen is expected to travel alone to the world’s most populous country. Upon arrival in China, she will be chaperoned by Miss World organisers.
