THE skeletal remains of a Bulawayo man that were found in a cave at Matopos National Park last week will be interred at West Park Cemetery in the city tomorrow. The remains of Bazara Bayana, 67, who went missing on December 20, 2010, were discovered by tourists visiting the historical site.

One of his wives, Getrude Bayana, said they were expecting to bury their husband tomorrow morning.
“We have been delayed by the children. Most of them are based in South Africa but we have set Saturday as the burial day. After police completed their investigations, they gave us the green light to bury him,” said Bayana.

She said after the discovery of her husband’s remains, there was relief and closure in the family particularly among his children.
“The children were very happy to hear that their father had been found and although he was dead, they felt relieved because it was painful for them. They are happy that his history is now complete,” she said.

The senior wife said the family thanked God for the discovery of the remains.
“It was our prayer everyday that we find him dead or alive and this is the revelation that the Lord made, we know that the Lord will make a revelation again on how he died even if it will take time,” said Bayana.

The man was last seen at Retreat Shopping Centre along Matopos Road four years ago and what could have happened to him remains a mystery.

Police used the man’s cellphone that was found at the spot where the remains were located to trace his relatives.Mourners are gathered at the family home at house number 1181/2 Magwegwe.
