Australia-based reggae artiste Farirai Larry Makombe, whose stage name is Slicker 1, is happy with the response his mix tape titled “Culture Shocked” is getting.

Speaking from his base, Slicker said the mix tape has received a warm welcome with several deals coming his way.

“The mix tape has brought positive results for me. Apart from air play here in Aussie and back home there are several deals that are coming my way because of the response,” he said.

Slicker’s video “Shingirira” has been played on several channels include Afro Pop TV in Australia and ZTV.

“After that song I went on to release single “Paita Party” which is on the mix tape. That is going to be my next big thing as people are already playing it here,” he said.

Other tunes on the mix tape that have taken the airwaves by storm are “Zvakunakidza”, “Turn Up” and “Let me know”.

The 27-year-old musician said he was taking time to please the fan base he has created in the Diaspora and back home.

“I will not take shortcuts in my career and will make sure I release mature music that can get appreciation on the market,” he said.

He is also working to market his clothing label ToraMariBoiz/ToraMariGals (TMB_TMG) across the world.

“My music is spreading and I am also marketing my clothing label. As artistes we have to find other avenues that keep our brand going,” he said.

Slicker has performed at a number of events in Australia and New Zealand and has been part of shows featuring Sean Paul, Common, Dizzy Dee and Seh Calaz.
