He goes where Highlanders Football Club go. Like everywhere, including the muddy Baobab Stadium turf of Ngezi.
Tomorrow will be no different. Without a shadow of a doubt, he will be on a bus to Ngezi. After four wins and one draw from five matches, Themba ‘Mjocks’ Siziba is already dreaming of a big cow celebration at the famed clubhouse on Bulawayo’s Fife Street.
But last season Highlanders led the Castle Premiership for a while. Even going unbeaten for 22 games! But for all that effort, they eventually failed to come within a sniff of the title.
This season, Highlanders are again at the summit of the Premiership, three points ahead of second-placed former champions FC Platinum and eight points ahead of defending champions Ngezi Platinum Stars who seem to be finding the going tough. Coach Kelvin Kaindu is now at the helm, again. And Bosso fans believe again. But will this newfound belief be enough to finally deliver a title? Or will they flatter to deceive?

The former Keyona TV Sports Hour guest anchor and fervent Amahlonyama member, Themba ‘Mjocks’ Siziba is convinced this season is “the season”.
“This Highlanders is showing us what has been missing and that is clear. The present team wants to score goals. With Brito (former coach) all we did was defend, defend, and defend. Manje KK (Kaindu) is showing us that pretty much the same attack can deliver us from Ev(il) so to speak. We missed this.”
Tomorrow coach Tendai Chikuni and his struggling Ngezi champions welcome the black and white brood to Baobab Stadium. A loud sigh is sure to permeate the Bosso team bus as it arrives at the match venue. Why? Because they have a pretty dismal record against Ngezi whether at home or on mars.
The sigh will be even louder from Mjocks and his fellow travelers. After all, last season, Mjocks ‘watched’ each and every heart breaking moment of his much-loved Highlanders.
“Kunzima eTurf lodaka lwabo. (It’s hard at Turf and their mud),” he says shaking in head, his brow furrowed with worry.
Mud, you ask? Ngezi is known to water its turf before and sometimes during matches, much to their opponents’ chagrin. Mjocks is talking about a season so far that has seen his team score nine goals for only two in five matches. That’s an average of 1.8 goals per match!
