Mketekete consolidates lead

yesterday.
The golfer will go into today’s final round on 15-under overall and leading the second-placed golfer by eight strokes.

Mketekete, who has struck a rich vein of form, is quickly becoming the leading golfer among the home-based professionals.
Mketekete is topping the Zambezi Tour money list after winning the biggest purse at Lowveld where he pocketed US$6 800.
He expects to play well in today’s final round.

“I think I will maintain my form in this morning’s round. It will be good if I keep the good form and avoid bad shots.
“The greens are playing well and the course is just fantastic and I am looking forward to the game.
“I cannot look into other players’ scores so much and relax my game because a single hole can cost you,” Mketekete said.

Charamba is trailing in second place.
He carded carded 66 and 71 for a seven-under-par going into the final round trailing the pacesetter by eight shots.

Phillip Tshuma is in third place.
Tshuma was third at the Lowveld Pro-am and trails Charamba by a single shot.

He carded 67 and 71 in the first two rounds.
Two-time invitational tournament winner, Shane Pringle, is in fourth place and Robson Saurombe fifth.

Ryan Cairns, Ryan Lang, Titch Masemburi, Brian Gondo, Davison Elijar and Vengesai Phiri completed the top 10 after yesterday’s round.
Richard Chitakatira was a dejected man after learning of his disqualification for not marking his card.

“I can not believe this, it is now too much for me. Of course I made a mistake but I think it is embarrassing to see such things happening after having a good score.
“There are so many disqualifications this season and I wonder what is happening. I might say it is poor administration as one can not revise his scores properly seated as everything is done in a hurry.

“The people just enter the scores and with this kind of administration the tournament will suffer. It pains to be disqualified two times in the same season,” Chitakatira said.
The tournament continues this morning with a Pro-Am slated for the afternoon field.
