AWARD-WINNING gospel artiste Everton Mlalazi is not just a prominent figure on Zimbabwe’s gospel music scene, but is actively changing and shaping the industry with his innovative approach and commitment.

In line with the adage “charity begins at home”, Mlalazi has returned to his roots in Bulawayo to uplift his community through music and service.

Known for his ability to create well-coordinated events that resonate deeply with audiences, his powerful voice and inspiring lyrics have made him a household name, but it is his passion for uplifting others through music that truly sets him apart.

This year, he is taking his vision to new heights with the inaugural “Ekhaya Worship Festival” set to take place on Africa Day in Bulawayo.

“Music has the power to heal and transform lives,” Mlalazi said in a recent interview.

“I believe that when we come together to worship, we create an atmosphere where miracles can happen.”

His dedication to fostering such environments is what has made him a beloved figure among fans and fellow artists alike.

The Ekhaya Worship Festival is a testament to his vision of community, faith and artistic excellence.

The festival promises to be a spiritually enriching experience, bringing together a diverse line-up of gospel ministers.

“We have an incredible group of artistes joining us, each bringing their unique sound and style to the stage,” Mlalazi shared.

With names like Mai Mwamuka, Takesure Zamar, Vocal Ex, VOP Music, Sipho Snowy, Harvest House, Pastor Barak, Lorraine Maplanka and Vusa Mangena, among others, the event is set to showcase a blend of generations and worship styles, ensuring there’s something for everyone.

The international line up includes United Kingdom singer Robert Guy and Wayburn Dean.

Mlalazi’s vision extends beyond music; he aims to create a holistic experience for attendees.

“Worship is not just about singing; it’s about the entire experience,” he said.

“That’s why we are including a Free Health Expo at the festival.”

This initiative will provide free medical check-ups, consultations and health education, reflecting Mlalazi’s belief that spiritual and physical well-being go hand in hand.

“We want everyone to leave feeling not only uplifted in spirit but also cared for in body,” he added.

Mlalazi said the Ekhaya Worship Festival is not just an event; it’s a movement.

He sees it as a homecoming for individuals from all walks of life.

“Ekhaya means home, and this festival is about returning to our roots, reconnecting with God, and celebrating our community.

“When we gather in faith, we create a powerful force for change and healing.”

His excitement for the event is palpable, and he encourages everyone to participate in this unique gathering.

With thousands expected to attend, Mlalazi is also focused on fostering local economic activity. “We’re engaging local vendors and small businesses to be part of this festival,” he mentioned. “It’s vital that we uplift our community not just spiritually but also                                          economically.”

This commitment to community empowerment is a core principle of Mlalazi’s ministry, and it resonates deeply with his audience.

When asked about his hopes for the festival, Mlalazi’s eyes lit up.

“I want people to leave feeling renewed and inspired, ready to take on the world with a new perspective,” he said. “This is our opportunity to shake the heavens and uplift the earth.”

His passion and enthusiasm are infectious, and it’s clear that he is committed to making the festival a landmark event in Zimbabwe’s gospel calendar.
