Mighty Warriors coach Shadreck Mlauzi has pleaded with Zifa to afford them adequate preparations for the Olympics as well as Africa Women Nations Cup to be held in Cameroon in December.
Last October, the Mighty Warriors made history by becoming the first ever Zimbabwean football team to qualify for Olympics after swatting aside much-fancied Cameroon for the Rio ticket.
Last Sunday, they again qualified for another major tournament by booking a place at the Africa Women Nations Cup after beating Zambia 4-2 on aggregate.
They would be making a fourth appearance at the Africa Women Nations Cup where they last took part 12 years ago.
Mlauzi implored Zifa to help them with healthy preparations that would be conducive for good results in Rio and Cameroon.
a?In four monthsa time we would be in Brazil for the Olympics so there is no time to rest for us. We should start preparing now,a? Mlauzi said.
a?I will talk to my bosses at Zifa so that we can have some periodic training camps between now and August. We also need play some international friendlies during that period,a? Mlauzi said.
a?This is something very important to us if we are to entertain any hopes of doing well at the Olympics. After the Olympics there is no time to rest again as we will be readying ourselves for the Nations Cup. We will again try to engage Zifa to help us prepare well.a?
Zimbabwe will know their Olympic Games group stage opponents on Thursday at a draw to be conducted at the Maracana Stadium.
The Ministry of Sport and Recreation has however pledged to support the team in adequately preparing for both tournaments. – supersport.com .
