MASHONALAND West provincial chairman Cde Temba Mliswa, who was booted out of the executive through a no confidence vote, has accepted the decision of the Politburo that he leaves office.
He has pledged to ensure a smooth transition.
In communication to the provincial executive recently, Cde Mliswa said it was not his intention to “offend” anyone with what others perceived as his “overzealous” management style.
“Following the message from Cde (Kindness) Paradza (provincial secretary for administration) regarding yesterday’s (last Thursday) Politburo decision, I would like to confirm that the verdict is out and I’ve received official communication from the Politburo regarding the upholding of the vote of no confidence against me,” he said.
“Yes, maybe there’re those who’re celebrating this outcome but at the end of the day order and respect for authority will prevail and I accordingly accept the judgment gracefully and with honour.”
Cde Mliswa said he would continue to serve the party and work for the good of the people in whatever capacity.
The ousted chairman said allegations of working with the American spy agency, CIA, should be investigated, saying he waited for an opportunity to “clear” his name.
“There may be those who viewed my management style during my tenure as chairman as overzealous. However, it was never my intention to offend anybody or ruffle any feathers,” he said. “What has always been at the core of my enthusiasm and driving force has always been the growth and development of the party.”
Cde Mliswa thanked those he worked with for their support, saying there were no permanent enemies in politics, before calling on the party to remain united.
Cde Mliswa was shown the exit door by at least 28 of the 50 member strong provincial executive on allegations of bringing the name of the party into disrepute and working with spy agents to undermine the party.
He viciously resisted the move, arguing that the Politburo had not endorsed his ouster and had not communicated with him formally.
Cde Mliswa caused commotion at a recent provincial coordinating committee meeting claiming he was still in charge before the Politburo endorsed the vote of no confidence.
President Mugabe recently slammed him for being inebriated by power to the extent that he ran the province like his kingdom.
