MISS Tourism Zimbabwe, Nomqhele Sisa Nkomo feels she laid her foundation last year.
Nkomo believes that what she achieved last year will forever be etched in her memory as a time of remarkable growth, achievement, and self-discovery.
Nkomo represented the nation at the Miss Tourism International pageant in Malaysia last year in October.
Even though she did not win at the international stage, Nkomo believes in growth.
Nkomo was nominated for the Model of the Year at this year’s Bulawayo Arts Awards.
In an interview with Zimpapers Arts and Entertainment Hub, Nkomo is intentional and clear about her future.
“I’m welcoming the new year with intention and clarity. It’s a time for reflection, goal setting, and aligning myself with the vision I have for the next chapter. I’m excited to build on the foundation laid last year and step into this new era focused, inspired, and ready for greater challenges and opportunities.
“Last year was a transformative and deeply meaningful year in my career. It marked a season of expansion, stepping into national and international spaces with confidence and purpose.
“Winning major titles and representing Zimbabwe beyond its borders reshaped how I see myself and my potential. Last year affirmed that my journey is not only about personal success, but about representation, growth, and impact,” she said.
The young model and beauty queen’s journey took her from the national stage to international platforms, earning her major titles and a sense of pride in representing Zimbabwe on the global map.
“It was filled with milestones I will always cherish. I was crowned Miss NUST and Miss Tourism, achievements that symbolised years of hard work, discipline, and belief in myself.
“One of the most defining moments was travelling outside the country for the first time to represent Zimbabwe in Malaysia, an experience that broadened my worldview and deepened my sense of national pride.”
“Being nominated for Model of the Year at this year’s Bulawayo Arts Awards was also a powerful affirmation of my growth within the fashion and modelling industry.
Beyond pageantry, Nkomo is also a journalism student at the National University of Science and Technology (NUST).
A versatile creative, she is a talented designer and spoken-word poet who has competed in poetry slams and performed at various events.
Her artistry was recognised last year when she won the Outstanding Poet Award at the Pumula Royal Arts and Community Awards, further cementing her reputation as a rising star in Zimbabwe’s creative and cultural industries. She is also the reigning Miss NUST.
