Modelling agency holds Miss Uhuru

at Magwegwe club today.

The event will be run under two themes: “Celebrate the pride of being a born free Zimbabwean” and “Girl child don’t be neglected”.

Chizz Events Management director Gift Nhema said the modelling show was for all born free girls.

He said the objective was to make the born free girls understand and appreciate the importance of the  country’s independence. Nhema said during the show issues such as girl child abuse, early pregnancy and ill-treatment of orphans will be highlighted.

“This event is the first of its kind and our plans are to hold it annually. We have realised that many born free children do not understand what it means to be what they are today because they never experienced the struggle for independence,” he said.

Nhema said girls especially orphans were exposed to HIV/Aids and there was therefore need to arm them with skills to fight sexual abuse.

He said his organisation wanted to partner  Childline of Zimbabwe in the promotion of its teen modelling shows around schools as part of raising awareness on child abuse through modelling.
