THE Deputy Minister of Industry and Commerce, Cde Raj Modi, will on Sunday lead a delegation from Bulawayo to Cyclone Idai hit areas in Chimanimani where they will donate food, water, clothes and blankets to survivors of the tempest.
For weeks the Bulawayo businessman has been calling on the corporate sector in the city and individuals to pool resources so that the aid they take to Chimanimani benefits the majority of the survivors.
“I must say the response from the people of Bulawayo and companies has been overwhelming. We have so many donations that have been handed over and we will use a huge truck to transport them. The truck will leave on Saturday at 3PM and we will follow on Sunday at 4AM so I urge those who want to donate something but cannot make it to Chimanimani to come to Liquor Hub and give us their donations,” he said.

Cde Modi said those who have transport can join the delegation that will leave early Sunday morning.
“There are people that have come forward and said they want to be part of the delegation and they have their own vehicles. I have told them that they are most welcome, it is possible that there are others as well who want to join the convoy to Chimanimani. I say to them come, we are not shutting out anyone,” said Cde Modi.
