Mokoomba earns Yossou Na��Doura��s respect

Victoria Falls-based band Mokoomba last weekend earned the admiration of Grammy award winning African music legend Youssou Na��Dour when they gave him an impromptu performance of one of their latest songs in Germany.

The Zimbabwean fusion band is in Europe on a two-month tour that started last month with Munich, Germany being their latest stop over the weekend.

This comes barely a few months after the group made a historic appearance at the world famous Apollo Theatre where their performances also earned critical acclaim and the respect of audiences.

Over the weekend however, the group performed in front of African music royalty, as they gave Na��Dour an early taste of their music backstage, treating him to an accapella rendition of a song from their upcoming Luyando album.

Over a minute long video, the group mesmerised Na��Dour who hung on to every note they sang as if spellbound.

The group energetically went through the song, with Na��Dour giving applause at the end of the song and hailing it as fantastic.

The groupa��s manager Marcus Gora welcomed Na��Doura��s vote of approval as he was an African music trailblazer whose opinion mattered to the group members who were also students of his music.
