Monitor Government projects, demand accountability, Adv Mudenda urges party leaders

ZANU-PF Secretary-General, Advocate Jacob Mudenda, has urged the party provincial leadership in Matabeleland North Province to take an active role in monitoring Government development projects to ensure they are progressing as planned.

Addressing Politburo and Central Committee members at the party’s provincial headquarters in Lupane yesterday, Adv Mudenda said party structures have a critical supervisory role over Government programmes.

“You must ensure that all Government projects in the province are progressing well. It is your duty to make sure these projects remain on course because the party supervises the Government,” he said.

He urged party officials to carry out on-the-ground inspections of major infrastructure developments, including the Gwayi-Shangani Dam and to closely assess implementation details such as workforce composition.

“When you visit these projects, you must also check how many employees are on site and where they come from. Do not fear anything, you have the political power to do that,” said Adv Mudenda.

He further encouraged party members to remain confident in their mandate, emphasising the strength and authority of Zanu-PF structures in driving national development.

Adv Mudenda questioned what he described as the seemingly slow pace of construction on the Bulawayo–Victoria Falls Road, noting that he did not observe much activity while travelling from Bulawayo to Lupane.

“As the provincial party leadership, you have the power to summon the Minister of Transport and Infrastructural Development and demand to know why there is stagnation on this project. We know they are eight contractors, each given a certain number of kilometres yet when I came here I only saw a single contractor’s equipment parked, no activity. You must demand to know what is happening,” said Adv Mudenda.

He said the party can only remain relevant in the province if communities see Government projects progressing as expected.

“Don’t forget that the party leads Government so ensure that all these projects are as per schedule. Government implements party policies and resolutions,” said Adv Mudenda.
