First Lady Dr Auxillia Mnangagwa’s philanthropic work continues to charm many people and organisations, with the Airports Company of Zimbabwe (ACZ) becoming the latest to be lured by her life-changing initiatives, and donated an assortment of groceries to the Angel of Hope Foundation.

ACZ said the foodstuffs, which were donated as a birthday present to Dr Mnangagwa whose birthday was celebrated last week, were meant for her charity work.

The groceries included boxes of cooking oil, tonnes of maize meal, boxes of powdered milk, sanitary wear, cartons of sugar, rice and salt.

Dr Mnangagwa has been traversing the length and breadth of the country, assisting vulnerable and less privileged people without looking at their political affiliation, groups without being selective.

Handing over the donation at Zimbabwe House, ACZ chief executive officer Mr Tawanda Gusha said the donation was part of efforts to celebrate the First Lady’s birthday while appreciating her noble humanitarian initiatives that have benefited vulnerable communities in Zimbabwe.

“As the Airports Company of Zimbabwe, this is our small way of contributing to the great works that the First Lady is doing in the communities in uplifting the less privileged,” said Mr Gusha.

“We have seen the works, we have heard about the works and the works are just testimony of a great heart that she has especially for the less privileged.

“So as the Airport Company of Zimbabwe, we have decided to contribute to that initiative.”

Mr Gusha said charity work simply runs in the blood of the First Lady.

“We cannot really get to everyone in the community but we know that through this initiative, it is also targeting the needy especially those women that have just given birth especially in our less privileged communities.

“They will have somewhere to start from, they will be able to look after themselves and their children. We have seen the work that Amai is doing and we can only say well done and keep it up and we will continue to assist in small ways that we can from time to time,” he said.

ACZ board chairperson Mr Dave Popatlal said Amai Mnangagwa’s works are there for everyone to see.

“We came here with our small contribution for a great programme of our First Lady of the nation, who has been mobilising for vulnerable communities.

“We did not want to be silent. It is going to benefit orphans and women in general. It is a great initiative which honours Zimbabwe on the world stage. We are showing the world that good will and good wishes of the nation of Zimbabwe are there to make the country great,” he said.
