THE Meteorological Services Department (MSD) has predicted more rains in the southern region for the next two days before the downpours shift to the eastern parts of the country from Wednesday.
The news of more rains will come as a relief to farmers around the country who have already started land preparations ahead of commencement of planting.
Livestock will also benefit from the rains as open water sources such as dams and rivers that had dried up as a result of the El Nino-induced drought that ravaged the whole country will get replenished.

MSD also warned against crossing flooded rivers.
“A cloud band entered the country from the west on Sunday the 10th of November 2024 bringing moisture over all Matabeleland and Bulawayo Metropolitan Provinces. On Monday evening (today) more moisture should be driven in from the South-East coast of southern Africa.
“This should result in more rainfall in Matabeleland South, Masvingo and Manicaland Provinces on Tuesday, 12 November. By Wednesday, 13 November, the rains and showers should be heavier in the southern parts of Mashonaland West, Mashonaland East and Harare Metropolitan Provinces,” said the agency in a statement.
“People are advised not to attempt to cross flooded rivers.” The department said lightning, hailstorms and thunderstorms should also be expected.
“Lightning, hailstorms, wind gusts and thunderstorms are expected to sweep the entire country and flooded rivers and waterways where no heavy rains have occurred should be expected. The heavy rains may happen upstream and the public is warned to seek shelter in buildings with conductors.’’
