A South African–based businessman and philanthropist, Moreboys Munetsi, has won a R5million defamation case against social media user, Louisa Jembe.
Jembe will also have to pay R300 000 in legal costs.
If she ignores the judgement, Munetsi will go back to court on Monday for contempt of court and request the court to issue a warrant of arrest.
In the High Court of South Africa Gauteng Division ruling delivered on July 24, the philanthropist convinced judge Mabaeng Masenyani Daisy Lenyai that Jembe had defamed him.
The matter was heard under case number: 2026-090944.
Judge Lenyai said: “Having perused the papers filed of record and having heard counsel for the applicant, it is declared that she clears all the digital footprint by Sunday, 2 August.
“The statement published by the respondent on her Facebook handle (Louisa Official 2) on 18 April 2026, in which she insinuates that the applicant was involved in a fraudulent act, is defamatory.
“The video footage published by the respondent on her Facebook handle (Louisa Official 2) on 19 April 2026, in which she addresses the applicant, violates the applicant’s dignity.
“The respondent deletes the publications from her Facebook handle (Louisa Official 2) or any other social media pages controlled by her within 48 hours from the granting of the court order.
“The respondent issues an unconditional public apology to the applicant on her Facebook account (Louisa Official 2) by publishing a video recording in which she unconditionally retracts all the defamatory and demeaning content she published against the applicant on 18 and 19 April 2026, respectively.”
Judge Lenyai further said Jembe was to issue an unconditional public apology to Munetsi within 48 hours from the granting of the order.
“In the event that the respondent has deleted the publications by the time this order is granted, the respondent is still ordered to render an unconditional public apology to the applicant.
“The respondent shall pay the costs of this application on a party-and-party scale, including the costs of counsel.”
