SADC chairperson President Mnangagwa will today meet his Russian counterpart, President Vladimir Putin, in Moscow for high-level discussions aimed at strengthening bilateral relations between Zimbabwe and Russia.
The meeting comes after President Mnangagwa attended Russia’s 80th Victory Day celebrations to commemorate its victory in World War II on Friday.

The President’s engagement with President Putin is expected to focus on deepening economic and political cooperation between the two nations, amid growing geopolitical realignments.
The talks come at a crucial time for Zimbabwe, which is drumming up support for a non-permanent seat at the United Nations Security Council.
Zimbabwe is actively lobbying for one of Africa’s rotating UNSC seats, and Russia’s endorsement could be crucial.
It is anticipated that comprehensive discussions will be held during today’s meeting as Zimbabwe cooperates with the Russian Federation in many fields, including mining, defence, science and technology.
