“I am happy that I have turned 38 years and I am grateful to the Lord.
“To mark my birthday, I have invited friends for a braai party at home.
“I was delivered at home and it’s here where I am celebrating my birthday,” said Arifonso.
While he has officially retired, the former champion is hopeful to fight Spencer Matsangura in a testimonial bout.
“I was hoping to stage my testimonial bout last month but I failed to get enough resources.
“So people should expect to see me in the ring one more time as I want to stage a testimonial match.
“I am hoping to fight Spencer and this fight should bring memories to many boxing followers.
“Boxing standards have gone down and I hope the testimonial bout will show people how we used to fight,” said Arifonso.
As he celebrated his 38th birthday at his parents’ home in Mbare, Arifonso was joined by fellow boxers Tinashe Madziwana, Ronald Tamani, Farai “Master” Kachigwada and Misheck Kondwani.
Arifonso is hoping to make a name for himself as a trainer.
“I have boxers training under the Mosquito stable and if we get the support, we should be hosting matches,” he said.
