THE Premier Soccer League (PSL) has appealed for assistance in identifying individuals linked to the crowd trouble that led to the abandonment of a Castle Lager Premier Soccer League match at Chahwanda Stadium on Sunday.
In a letter that has since leaked onto social media, the PSL requested Hardrock supporters’ structures to help identify unnamed individuals captured in photographs and videos circulating online following the disturbances.
The incidents occurred during the abandoned league encounter played on May 24, with the violence once again throwing the spotlight on growing concerns over crowd disorder at local football matches.
In the correspondence, the PSL said the identification of the suspects would assist the league in its efforts to bring the alleged culprits to book and strengthen measures aimed at curbing violence in the domestic game.
“The Premier Soccer League kindly requests your assistance through your structures in identifying the unnamed individuals appearing in the attached pictures and many more visuals circulating on social media taken during the abandoned Castle Lager Premier Soccer League match at Chahwanda Stadium,” reads part of the letter.
“The identification of these individuals will assist the PSL in its efforts to bring these alleged culprits to book and strengthen measures aimed at dealing with violence and crowd disturbances at football matches.”
The league further appealed for any additional information or visuals that may help with investigations into the disturbances.
