A HARARE woman has been granted a protection order against her son, who has been accusing her of bewitching him and his children.

Florence Pulukiya appeared before Magistrate Meenal Narotam seeking relief from the abuse inflicted on her by her son, Emmanuel Pulukiya.

Florence told the court that Emmanuel was becoming violent.

She said he has been accusing her of witchcraft, claiming that she bewitched him and his children.

“He calls me a witch in front of our neighbours and has been threatening to burn the house,” she said.

Florence alleged that Emmanuel pushed her against the wall, causing her to fall, and then stepped on her.

She said on May 25, Emmanuel hit and choked her. Florence also accused her son of damaging her property.

“He is in the habit of breaking plates and cups when he is drunk or even selling my property to his friends.”

Magistrate Meenal Narotam granted a protection order in Florence’s favour. Emmanuel failed to appear in court to respond to the allegations.
