A musical group of 30 students from Mother Touch Group of Schools

(MTGS) lifted Zimbabwe’s flag high after scooping top prizes at the recently held Eisterdford International Music Festival in Whales, United Kingdom.

Mother Touch musical group scooped third international positions in all the three categories namely Folk Dance, Ceremonial Activities and Instrumental Ensemble and won certificates, cash and other benefits.

In an interview with MTGS founder and chief executive officer,Mrs Salome Mutsinze said they feel humbled by their success and the prizes they won abroad.

“We really felt overwhelmed with joy and we are so grateful to our God who enabled us to proudly represent our nation in the foreign land.

This was also made possible by the support we got from our motherboard, parents, business partners and the ministry of primary and secondary education.

“In terms of prices we were given certicates, 400 pounds cash as well as a bursary that subsidised our accommodation and transport in Wales,” she said.

Mrs Chinze also said apart from the competition the group also had a chance to tour most fascinating areas in London as well as Scotland.

“Apart from musical festival we also had an opportunity to participate in the nation’s parade where we truly and proudly raise our nation’s flag and continent so high. We also visited most prominent places like Sea Life, 4D Theatre, Eye Natural and Science Museum, a school just to have appreciation of their education and Falkirk Wheel in Scotland,” she added.

Participating in international competitions was part of their yearly agenda and they aim to raise leaders that are relevant to the nation and the global village.

“We aim to raise successful leaders that are a relevant to our nation and the global village at large.

“In a way to achieve this we train our learners to know and appreciate their identity and of other through culture hence we organise annual international tours to United Kingdom where we participate in a international Eistedford musical festival,” said Mrs Mutsinze. Mother Touch Group of Schools started from humble beginnings as a crèche in New Marimba in 1997.It has grown tremendously to become a group of schools comprising of ECD, Junior and senior schools with boarding facilities.

MTGS has won several awards locally from district to national level.
