MOTIVATION: Grow through passion

Hunt For Greatness
Milton Kamwendo

PASSION is the fire that fuels greatness. Without it, life becomes bland. Work becomes drudgery. Dreams of greatness remain locked in wishful thinking.

With passion, things burn into action. Obstacles shrink. Creativity blossoms. Progress accelerates and what looked impossible starts becoming visible. The difference between people who rise to greatness and those who languish in mediocrity often boils down to the passion factor. Grant Cardone, in his book “Be Obsessed or Be Average”, makes the case that obsession, driven by burning passion, is not something to be shunned, but to be cultivated.  In his world, obsession is not madness. It is passionate focus. It is not recklessness. It is clarity with passion. It is not weakness. It is channelled strength.

Cardone advances that people who are merely average get drowned out, while those who burn with passion and obsession rise to the top.

Everything great requires passion. You cannot grow without passion. You cannot accelerate or improve without passion. Passion makes you stand up and stand out.

Growth engine

Passion is not a soft, sentimental feeling. It is a disciplined fire in your bones and flame in your mind. It is what gets you up early. Passion keeps you awake late.

Passion sustains you in seasons of drought, delay or disappointment. Passion is the fuel that powers courage and endurance. Passion gives persistence a handle.

Every great movement, every breakthrough invention, every great enterprise, every lasting legacy has been the offspring of passion.

Thomas Edison was passionate about creating light.

Mr Strive Masiyiwa was passionate about connecting Africans through telecommunications.

The late South African President Nelson Mandela was passionate about freedom and justice.

The late Charles Mungoshi was passionate about writing novels and plays.

The late Father Emmanuel Ribeiro was passionate about infusing traditional instruments and music into Christian worship. The late Professor Solomon Mutswairo was passionate about writing. This positioned him to write Zimbabwe’s national anthem.

In the Bible, Nehemiah was passionate about rebuilding Jerusalem’s walls. Paul was passionate about preaching the gospel to the Gentiles.  Jesus was passionate about seeking and saving the lost.

Passion creates energy. Energy creates momentum. Momentum creates sustained action.

Action creates growth and results. Without momentum, growth stalls. With passion, growth becomes inevitable. Passion enables the growth chain.

National passion

We stand at a crossroads. We face challenges that are real and pressing. There are economic headwinds, infrastructural gaps and the heavy burden of rebuilding. These challenges are not the end of the story. We can only rise through passion that ignites resilience.

Fan passion for progress. Let a thousand cadres arise.

Be passionate about enterprise. Be passionate about innovation. Be passionate about agriculture. Be passionate about technology.

Be passionate about building institutions of excellence.

Passion gives birth to companies, industries and ministries that will define the next chapter of growth.

When a generation embraces passion, mediocrity is banished. When passion is absent, excuses multiply, corruption thrives and stagnation becomes the order of the day. Rise with passion and make a difference.

Embrace passion

Cardone makes an uncompromising call: “Be obsessed or be average.”

His words are uncomfortable but true. Average is crowded. Average is noisy. Average is predictable. Average is pedestrian.  Passion makes you rise above the crowd. Obsession means you go beyond what others consider “normal”. It means you think about your calling, your business or your dream more often than is comfortable.

You plan, strategise, rehearse and prepare when others are resting. You invest when others are consuming. You persist when others give up. You keep fighting when you are hardest hit.

Average is safe but sterile.

Passionate obsession is risky but rewarding. Without passion, you settle for crumbs. With passion, you dare to sit at the king’s table.

Growth passion

Passion is the soil in which your gifts grow. Without passion, talent withers. Passion sharpens skill. It attracts opportunities and builds confidence.

A passionate student studies not just to pass exams, but to master knowledge. A passionate entrepreneur does not just sell goods but solves problems with creativity.

A passionate leader does not just occupy an office, but inspires others to achieve more. To grow, discover what ignites your passion. Pay attention to what excites you, what troubles you deeply and what you would do even if no one paid you.

That is often the place where your purpose lives.

Passion discipline

Passion is not just mindless excitement. Excitement fades, but passion endures. True passion is disciplined and intentional. It is channelled energy, not scattered sparks.

Passion goes beyond casual commitment. Passion must translate into obsessive focus and massive action. Passion without action is just noise. Passion with action becomes progress.

Feel deeply and act boldly. Dream vividly and execute consistently. Passion requires sweat, sacrifice and staying power. Work without passion is mere survival. Work with passion is legacy.

Guard passion

Passion is precious and must be protected. There are forces that drain passion: negativity, fear, comparison and cynicism. Do not let critics snuff out your passion.

Do not let complainers suffocate your passion. Feed your passion with positive inputs. Read books and articles that inspire you. Listen to voices that challenge you. Spend time with people who are going somewhere. Pray, plan and prepare with passion. Passion must be nurtured.

Passion action

You are pregnant with possibilities. The possibilities require midwives of passion. Do not settle for average. Do not be lulled by comfort zones. Do not excuse mediocrity. Choose passion. Choose obsession.

Choose to grow by doing something with fire in your heart and focus in your mind. Passion will make you stand out. Passion will turn your ideas into action. Passion will multiply your growth. Grow through passion or stagnate in mediocrity.

Embrace life with intensity and focus. May passion be your portion. May you keep growing, not because it is easy, but because you chose to live with fire in your bones and vision in your eyes.

Committed to your greatness.
