DONNYBROOK Park Raceway — the home of motorsport in this country — will once again come alive this Sunday as it hosts the third round of the 2025 Bogwheelers Club RK Fuels National Motocross Championship series.
In fact, this month promises to be a busy one for the local motorsport community who will make their way to this iconic venue to watch a number of events that will be held across the whole of May.
Sunday’s Round Three of the motocross Nationals will be followed by the Tiger Wheel & Tyre 1 Hour Endurance Race Day on May 11.
Donnybrook will also stage Round Two of the 2025 Flat-Track series on May 17 before the popular Castrol 4×4 Jamboree makes its way to the same venue on May 24 and 25.
The motocross will family will first set the scene in motion when they come together this Sunday for the third round of the RK Fuels Nationals.
Round Two of the National Motocross Championship series was held at the beginning of last month at Donnybrook.
The roar of engines echoed across the track as the RK Fuels Motocross National Championship roared into its second round. Spectators were treated to a fantastic display of skill, speed, and sportsmanship, with action-packed racing across all classes.
The event was a resounding success, delivering a weekend of pure motocross excitement with fair and competitive battles throughout.
Overall, the RK Fuels Motocross National Round Two was a fantastic weekend of racing.
The competition was fierce but fair, and the talent on display across all classes was truly impressive.
With no injuries reported, it was a safe and successful event that left fans eagerly anticipating the next round of the championship to be held this Sunday at the same venue.
The spotlight will once again fall on 10-year-old Victor Nyamupfukudza who will be out to redeem himself in the 65cc Class following a disappointing outing the last time out.
Nyamupfukudza’s father and manager, Simbarashe Nyamupfukudza, told Zimpapers Sports Hub yesterday that his son was itching to get back on the track on Sunday.
“Yes, we are going to race on Sunday… We have been having challenges with our bikes since last December’s Zimbabwe Summer Series but I’m praying this time Victor is going to collect maximum points,” Simbarashe Nyamupfukudza said.
Behind every ambitious project is a significant financial challenge. Bringing Victor Nyamupfukudza into the tough world of motocross racing is not only a sporting endeavour — it’s also a budgetary one for the talented young racer.
His father is opening the door for sponsors and partners to get involved and support his campaign this year.
“All in all, the budget is slightly more than US$20 000,” concludes Simbarashe Nyamupfukudza. “We’re looking for partners to help us with that side of things, because competing in the National Championship series is very expensive.
“It’s a personal choice we’ve made, so we’re not complaining — we accept the consequences. We’re simply looking for support so Victor can have the best conditions possible.
“Doing things right has a cost. Last year we did our best to find funding and it wasn’t easy.
“If we can find help, it would be a huge positive for us — and very motivating. It’s a great challenge and offers good visibility for our partners.”
Last year, Victor’s best exposure came from competing in the FIM Africa Motocross of African Nations Championships in Marrakech, Morocco, in October where he finished second overall in the 65cc Class.
And he is already preparing to take part in the 2025 African Nations Championships which will be held at Donnybrook in August. For the first time since 2019, Zimbabwe will once again host the prestigious FIM Africa Motocross of African Nations Championships (MXoAN) – with the event roaring back to Donnybrook Park Raceway in Harare on August 16.
FIM Africa, the body that oversees the annual continental motorcycling show-piece, recently confirmed that the 2025 edition has been moved from Kenya to Zimbabwe.
