Motorist on two mobile phones steers with knees

Officers who stopped him said that they first noticed he had a phone to his ear. But when they looked again they discovered he was using his other hand to text on a second phone. They said the man was using only his legs to control the steering wheel of his Vauxhall Tigra on a 70mph stretch of the A47 at Blofield, near Norwich. The driver, a 34-year-old Norfolk man who has not been named, is to appear before magistrates accused of driving without due care and attention. His car, which was allegedly uninsured, has been seized.
Norfolk Police said the driver could face six points on his licence and thousands of pounds in fines if convicted.
A spokesman said: “Driving while using a mobile phone means you are not concentrating fully on the road. Using one mobile phone is silly but two mobile phones is amazingly silly.”
Police spotted the man earlier this month during a two-week campaign across Norfolk. A total of 239 drivers were caught using their mobile phones.
Inspector David Ball of Norfolk Police said: “Using a mobile phone while driving has been shown to multiply the chances of drivers causing a collision.” – Daily Mail.
