THE Zimbabwe National Road Administration (ZINARA) has drawn widespread praise from motorists at the 2026 Zimbabwe Agricultural Show, with many celebrating the incentive that rewards motorists who have remained current on their motor vehicle licenses.
For many, this promotion represents a timely and tangible reward for those who choose to keep their vehicle licenses in order, which motivates and creates a culture of compliance.
ZINARA is offering motorists renewing their vehicle licenses at its stand at the Zimbabwe Agricultural Show, its offices and tollgates countrywide up to 50 percent discount.
This is achieved through a discount offered by participating insurance partners, bringing the total savings to half the usual cost for eligible motorists.
The response at the ZINARA stand has been overwhelmingly positive, with long queues of motorists eager to take advantage of the savings.
One of the motorists, Tobias Mucherwa, described the promotion as a game-changer.
“This is a very good initiative because it makes it easier for us to renew our vehicle licences. Getting a 50 percent discount is a big saving, and I would like to thank ZINARA and its partners for thinking about compliant motorists,” he said.
Another motorist, Dorothy Marudza, echoed those sentiments, adding that the promotion showed ZINARA was paying attention to the realities faced by ordinary drivers.
“Last year, I regularised my licence with the penalty waiver that was on offer. I have remained compliant since then and today I am excited that I am being rewarded with a 50 percent discount on my current renewal,” she said.
“I truly appreciate ZINARA for giving us this opportunity to be up to date and to reward us for it.”
A third motorist, who declined to be named, urged fellow drivers not to let the offer pass them by.
“This is something motorists should take advantage of. The 50 percent saving on vehicle licensing renewal is not something you get every day. I want to thank ZINARA and the partners for making this possible,” she said.
The promotion forms part of ZINARA’s broader strategy to engage motorists directly, moving beyond traditional enforcement to offer practical, wallet-friendly incentives that encourage compliance with vehicle licensing requirements.
Parallel but complementary to this reward promotion, ZINARA is also running another promotion for motorists with vehicle license arrears, allowing them to benefit from a 100 percent waiver on penalties.
This promotion offers motorists a chance to regularise their licenses, enabling them to transition back to compliance without much pressure on their budgets.
ZINARA officials at the show noted that the positive response was not only visible in the number of renewals processed but also in the quality of engagement, with many members of the public taking the opportunity to seek clarification on licensing procedures, tolling products, and other road-user services offered by ZINARA.
The promotions are expected to continue drawing crowds throughout the remainder of the show week, as ZINARA pushes towards its ambitious target of licensing one million vehicles by the end of 2026—a goal that, if these early responses are anything to go by, may well be within reach.
