A SERIAL robber who has been terrorising motorists, using unknown objects to open their vehicles and steal items ranging from cell phones to laptops, has been jailed.
Winter Foster Chisale (50), of Entumbane suburb in Bulawayo, appeared before Bulawayo magistrate Themba Chimiso, facing charges of stealing a cellphone from a car and defaulting on community service.
He was granted a suspended sentence in December last year.
Chisale was sentenced to 12 months in prison for failing to complete 420 hours of court-ordered community service.
He pleaded guilty to the theft charge and will be sentenced on 4 March.
The court heard that in December last year Chisale, facing previous theft charges from cars, was convicted and sentenced to 24 months in prison.
The court suspended 12 months of the sentence for five years on condition of good behaviour.
The remaining twelve months were further suspended on the condition that he complete 420 hours of community service.
However, Chisale failed to fulfill this requirement, prompting the person who was supposed to supervise him to report him to the police leading to his arrest.
