A 57-YEAR-OLD Gwanda man has been admitted to Gwanda Provincial Hospital after two brothers allegedly assaulted him for being too talkative.
Norman Ncube, 32, and Ndumiso, 22, of Mayezani village allegedly rained blows on their “too talkative” relative Gilbert Ncube on Christmas Day and threatened to kill him, if he did not shut up.
The duo made an initial appearance before magistrate Arafat Kozanai yesterday facing assault charges.
They were not asked to plead but were remanded in custody to January 5, 2016 for trial.
It could not be immediately established how the brothers were related to Gilbert.
Prosecuting, Moses Gondongwe said: “On December 25 this year at around 7.30PM, at Mayezani Shopping Centre, the accused persons threatened the complainant saying he talked too much.
“The accused persons started harassing the complainant and dragged him on his back, away from the shopping centre.
“On the way the accused persons kicked Gilbert in the stomach, slapped and punched him on the head,” Gondongwe said.
Further allegations are that the Ncube brothers threatened to kill the man and continued torturing him.
“The accused persons further dragged the complainant towards their homestead where they tied his feet together and started shouting at him threatening to kill him,” the court heard.
The matter was reported to the police leading to the brothers’ arrest.
