LONDON. — Arsene Wenger has been wasting Arsenal’s fantastic potential this season, according to Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho.
Mourinho was speaking as a guest on Goals on Sunday on Sky Sports, where he launched an extraordinary 27-minute tirade against what he claims is a series of injustices against Chelsea. And when asked about the Gunners, who currently lie third in the Premier League table but 12 points behind Chelsea, Mourinho admitted Wenger had the “perfect job” because of the stability he has at the Emirates Stadium.
Arsenal went nine years without a major trophy under the Frenchman, and though that ended last year with the FA Cup victory, Mourinho insists he was expecting the Gunners to challenge at the top, “Arsenal? I don’t understand why they are not where we are with Man City,” Mourinho said.
“I like their team very much, very good players, Alexis (Sanchez) and (Danny) Welbeck added to what they already had — a very good squad.
“In this moment he (Wenger) has a dream job that we would all love to have. Every manager in the world would love to have stability he has year after year with a chance to buy, to sell, to rebuild, to wait for success . . . and wait and wait. I think he has dream job.” Mourinho added that the wealth of attacking options Arsenal have is impressive, as well as praising their style of play under Wenger.
“What he did with club — in so many titles he got in a certain period — gave him that credibility he deserves,” Mourinho continued. — Mailonline.
