Mourinho on Utd job

LONDON. — Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has revealed that Sir Alex Ferguson never considered him to be his successor at Manchester United. Mourinho was hotly tipped to replace Fergie at the helm of Old Trafford once the Scot, who guided United to 38 trophies, revealed that he’d be retiring from management at the end of the 2013 season. However, the Portuguese (52) ended talk of a move to Old Trafford when he returned to Stamford Bridge for his second spell as Blues chief in June 2013.

Mourinho, who received a huge vote of confidence from the Chelsea board on Monday afternoon, was flattered to have been touted as Ferguson’s anointed replacement, a title which was awarded to former Everton chief David Moyes, but insists he was never in consideration for the job as Fergie knew of his desire to return to the Bridge.

“Every manager in the world looks at Man United as a huge club, but I wanted to come to Chelsea,” he said during an interview for a BBC documentary. — The Daily Star.
