Unlike Cindy not everyone can afford the high-end brands. Different women use different body sprays for different reasons but one thing the body spray users have in common is its feel good effect
For 24-year-old UK-based Zimbabwean Faith Tabvuma, this is one life lesson that inspired her to be a solution to the seemingly unending deodorant debacle.
Living on a student budget it costs an arm and leg to buy personal care products but sacrifices had to be made for the sack of sanity and hygiene.
From her dire experience Tabvuma was motivated to form the fayUK Group of Companies.
With a vision to serve the Zimbabwean personal care market Faith intended for other ladies who were living under budget constraints.
“While I was at university studying a BSC Hons in Fashion Product Development, I needed to cut down on certain products because they were expensive. It got me thinking that some products especially perfume products are necessities that any woman cannot afford to compromise on”
Tabvuma went on to learn how to develop products for women that are trend driven, of international standards and yet affordable to the everyday woman.
“One of the challenges women face within the Zimbabwean fashion or beauty industry is the ability to find trend driven products of an international standard that are reasonably priced. There often lies a compromise to either the finances or the quality of what people buy. But I have gathered the confidence to begin to address this problem by developing a range of fragrance mist collection of high quality, fun and appealing to the everyday woman without her spending a lot money,” stated Faith
These will include scents that will create an air of a beautiful sunny summer no matter what time of year it is.
These will vary from African Romance, a best kept secret with a combination of lush, dewy fruits with elegant exotic woods to create an alluring, secretive scent.
Enchanted Kiss best described as a tempting blend of black raspberry, Mirabelle plum, amber, dark vanilla bean and sensual balsam
The third would be Coconut Lime which is a Zesty Lime and Kumquat peel, blended with mandarin, muguet and sheer coconut water for a fragrance inspired by island breezes.
A personal favourite scent Mango Mandarin which consists of a combination of fresh mango and zesty mandarin is accented with creamy magnolia, cool Clementine and mandarin leaves
Controversial an interesting scent My Secret is a secret mixture of sensual flowers, exotic sandalwood and intoxicating spices.
There is also the Midnight Fantasy mist made from passionate aromas of strawberry and icy white petals, amber and creamy sandalwood.
Some sweet scents would be Eternal Love. It’s a blend of lush raspberries, white jasmine and whipped vanilla and Japanese Cherry Blossom made from Asian pear, mimosa petals, Kyoto rose and Himalayan cedarwood
The last fragrance is Wild Pomegranate from Juicy pomegranates mingled with notes of anise, patchouli, blackberry and cassis
Tabvuma will not leave her products to have a positive impact on the users only but is also planning on an active campaign that celebrates the beauty of every woman by inspiring her to increase in her self-confidence and ambition.
The vivacious Tabvuma noted: “I am burning with excitement as we gradually plan this. We need to empower our girls and our women. It is in our nature as women to feel valuable and treasured.
“As a company, we want our brand to be able to remind every woman that no matter who they are, whatever their background; they are beautiful and perfect in their own ways. We will be looking for brand ambassadors that encapsulate our brand identity, so all the ladies should look out for that for what is set to be an exciting opportunity to empower each other as women.”
For years it has been common to think perfume and think instinctively foreign and international fashion design house couturiers. The likes of Givenchy, Burberry, Coty, Yardley, Max Factor and Revlon, to mention only a few that spring to mind. Thanks to this latest innovation, the proudly Zimbabwean body sprays are becoming a reality
Tabvuma’s fayUK will launch its fragrance mist collection of nine different fragrance scents in Harare in August 2013.
