Zezani High School student Nomalanga Choice Moyo is set to honour the legacy and memory of her late father, Desire “Moyoxide” Moyo, through a poetry performance scheduled for August 8 at Sabela Studios in Bulawayo.

Moyoxide, a respected cultural figure and artiste, died on October 10, 2025, at the age of 45. His artistic influence continues to resonate within the arts community and remains a source of inspiration for his family, particularly his children, who are carrying forward his creative vision.

The event will also feature a double album launch, celebrating Moyoxide’s Idabane and Thaluso Da Poet’s Thula Sizwe. Organisers have adopted a “pay what you can” model, allowing audiences from all walks of life to attend and celebrate the creative works.

Adding a family tribute to the occasion, another of Moyoxide’s children, Methembe Moyo, is also expected to perform.

A vibrant and promising young poet, Nomalanga has developed a passion for using poetry to express emotions, ideas, and lived experiences through the power of words. Through her performances and creative writing, she contributes to cultural preservation, promotes positive social values, and inspires fellow young people to embrace their talents.

As an emerging artiste, she continues to grow her creative voice, using poetry as a tool for education, self-expression, and community engagement.

Her upcoming performance is expected to serve as both a heartfelt tribute to her father’s enduring legacy and a showcase of the next generation of artistic talent emerging from Zimbabwe’s cultural landscape.
