MP calls for economic war effort

From Paul Mundandi in Zvishavane
ZANU-PF Central Committee member Cde Larry Mavima has urged people to remain united and fight the economic war to transform the country. Cde Mavima, who is also Zanu-PF’s former MP for Zvishavane was speaking on the side-lines of Heroes Day commemorations held at Nhamodzenyika Heroes Acre at Siboza in Zvishavane on Monday.

“Let’s remain united and not forget that we still have a long way to go as far as liberating this country. We are facing economic liberation and we need to be together and we need to be united,” said Mavima.

“His Excellency (President Robert Mugabe) mentioned a few days ago that unity begins in the family then transcends to the village, district provincial and then national. But we need to be united as a nation to overcome the problems we are facing right now.”

Zimbabwe is facing economic challenges caused by illegal sanctions imposed by the West.

However, the government has introduced the indigenisation and empowerment programme to uplift people’s lives.

Cde Mavima also applauded the people of Zvishavane who came in their thousands to remember fallen heroes.

“It was the biggest and best Heroes Day commemoration I have attended in Zvishavane District as far as I can remember.I hope that people will carry on the message and we must never ever forget our heroes, those who are dead and those who are alive who contributed immensely to the liberation of this country,” he said.

He also emphasised the need to uphold national peace and development.
