Upcoming afro-pop singer ‘Mr Moren’, real name NgonidzasheTatenda Moreni has entered the music scene with a message of hope and love to the nation.
The 25-year-old singer who studied for a Bachelor of Arts in Communication and English at Catholic University started his music career through Star Brite and Zimstar competitions in 2018.
Mr Moren revealed in an interview that he was inspired by the day-to-day activities of young adults who were trying to make ends meet.
“Music was not my passion because I was a bookworm but the situation led me to focus on music as I could use it as a tool to express myself,” he said.
“I then began to like music when I joined Star Brite and Zimstar and luckily I have learned a lot and made friends.”
The youthful singer has recorded five songs within two years and he is working on another song called “Gore Risati Rapera,” which is set to be released next month.
Mr Moren said he did not write songs but just got into a studio to listen to beats and sing.
“I sometimes go into the studio and work something with my producer. It comes naturally,” he said.
The most interesting thing is that he is just a freelance singer, and his inspiration comes from day -to-day events.
Mr Moren said he sings about the day-to-day activities of the people and gives them hope for better days.
He said that his song expresses emotions and is about love.
“My other trending song is called “Ngirozi”. It was inspired by someone appreciating her love and thanking the parents for her love. It’s more like the person she is dating is a blessing and appreciating every one of her,” explained Mr Moren. He believed that his music has an impact on people and can positively change their lives by inspiring them to have love and hope in whatever they face in life.
“Musungwa weRudo,” is a song that defines a person who is immersed in true love, wholeheartedly in this love.
Mr Moren said it would have been better if upcoming artistes were given a chance to curtain raise on big shows so that they could showcase their talents.
“Currently the music industry is tough as upcoming artists are not recognised.
“More prominence is being given to established artists and that is a big challenge to us.
“I have done a few shows but I wish I could perform with popular artistes so that I can showcase my talent because I believe I can reach the levels of established artistes like Jah Prayzah, Winky D and Trevor Dongo.”
He said does not compare himself with other artists as he believed that people were unique and the music industry was not about competition but to entertain people.
“I wish to become the brand ambassador of the organisation, get into mainstreaming and grab awards.
“Even nominations from NAMA and ZIMA, that’s what I expect with my music, getting into mainstreaming and awards, “ he said.
