Msamanyada settles at Phikwe

ZIMBABWEAN soccer striker Prosper Msamanyada says he is happy and settling well at his new side Phikwe United of Botswana.

The striker, however, is yet to make his debut as he is still dealing with getting his work permit.

The former FMSA Umguza and Highlanders striker has played a couple of friendly matches for the team and says he is raring to go.

“I am very happy here and the coaches and the guys have helped me to settle here. It will not be easy obviously but one thing for sure is that it will work out, I am just happy that I am settling well here,” said Msamanyada.

The 21-year-old spent most of his playing career at FMSA Umguza before moving to Highlanders reserve side Bosso90 last season where he scored six goals and provided four assists in 24 appearances.

He also opened up on how playing for a club with Bosso’s magnitude has built him to being a player he is right now.

“I only played for a year at Bosso but I learnt a lot. You must have a big heart if you want to play professional football. I faced a lot of challenges there but it was all about how I reacted to the situations I faced. Here it has become much easier because I have dealt with much worse situations in football,” said Msamanyada.

He joins fellow Zimbabwean and striker Lameck Mafu at Phikwe and the Zimpapers Sports Team got to hear how Mafu feels about having Msamanyada at the club.

“It makes the team a lot stronger that’s for sure, it also makes things even easier for my side, and his side also. One of the best things you can have as a foreign player is to have a country-mate as a teammate, therefore I am very happy that he came here,” said Mafu.

Both Mafu and Msamanyada provide the physical presence with their big stature to Phikwe and hope to steer them to the Botswana Premier League come next season.
