The event will be accompanied by a fund-raising dinner dance to be hosted at the same venue.
Indications so far are that the ceremony would be oversubscribed judging by numerous calls from people inquiring about the launch and dinner dance.
Cde Msipa launched the CG Msipa Trust in 1999 soon after he retired from the office of governor.
The former governor said he planned to assist the less privileged intellectually gifted young people to pursue their studies.
In an interview on Tuesday, Cde Msipa said the official launch of the CG Msipa Scholarship Trust would coincide with a fund-raising dinner.
He said all was now in place for what promises to be a big occasion with Government Ministers, politicians, and companies having confirmed their participation.
“All is now set for the official launch of the CG Msipa Scholarship Trust on Saturday in Gweru. I have been receiving calls from different high-ranking people among them Ministers, Governors and directors of various companies confirming their participation at the official launch of the trust which will coincide with a fund-raising dinner,” said Cde Msipa.
He said different speakers have been lined up to deliver motivational speeches on the day.
Cde Msipa said he would be expecting the corporate world to support the scholarship trust which he said would soon be a national trust.
“Our guest speaker will be Defence Minister, Cde Emmerson Mnangagwa, who will deliver the main speech.
Renowned author and Midlands State University’s Pro Vice-Chancellor Cde Rungano Zvobgo will also deliver a speech about education and academic development, while Mimosa Mining Company resident director, Mr Peter Chimboza, will deliver a speech on education and manpower development, among other speakers,” he said.
Cde Msipa said he was expecting to enrol many more underprivileged students from the 102 beneficiaries already on the CG Msipa Scholarship Trust.
“Our main aim is to complement President Mugabe’s Presidential Scholarship Scheme, which is being overwhelmed by applicants. We are officially launching the CG Msipa Trust to be a national trust and we hope to enrol more disadvantaged but intellectually gifted young people from across the country,” he said.
Cde Msipa urged the corporate world to support the Trust Fund by coming in their numbers for the official launch.
