Sport, Recreation, Arts and Culture Minister Lieutenant General (Rtd) Anselem Sanyatwe has commissioned the Mucheke multi-purpose courts in Masvingo City in a boon for sport development in the country’s oldest town.
The courts, comprising state-of-the-art tennis, volleyball and netball fields, were built by Masvingo City Council to promote growth of sports in the city.
He hailed the opening of the multi-service courts that can also be used by persons living with disabilities as another demonstration of the fulfilment of President Mnangagwa’s mantra of leaving no one and no place behind.
The minister lauded Masvingo City Council for committing resources to the development of sport, which fully aligns with the National Development Strategy 2 (2026-2030).
Speaking at the same event, Masvingo Provincial Affairs and Devolution Minister Ezra Chadzamira commended the development of sporting infrastructure in the ancient city, noting that the move will help stem drug and substance abuse.
Masvingo Town Clerk Engineer Edward Mukaratirwa assured Government and stakeholders of the local authority’s long term commitment to upgrade and develop sporting infrastructure for the benefit of residents.
