Muchena urges clubs to familiarise with rules

Eastern Region Soccer League chairman Davison Muchena has urged clubs to always continue familiarising themselves with the rules and regulations of the game.

His sentiments came after a board decision saw Bikita Minerals being awarded three points to sneak into Premiership ahead of Tenax who saw their celebrations dying prematurely.

Muchena said they have to always adhere to the rules and regulations of the game.

“We have to always adhere to the rules and regulations of the game. The rules are actually made by FIFA and our duty is just to make sure they are being observed.

“This means the game’s rules are universal but the problem we see as a country is likely because we are still lagging in technological advancement and I hope with the right focus we can achieve that too, for instance, the use of VAR still sounds like a myth here.

“In the case against Bikita and Grayham, the evidence was overwhelming and I understand all those who went through the process can tell there was no better way to navigate it than we did. We just put rules and regulations into work.

“Personally I feel sympathy for Tenax after the whole night of celebrations for the squad, their fairy tale was short-lived.

“As a league, we have done enough to educate the clubs about the rules and regulations. At the beginning of the season, we had a workshop where we taught them about all the rules and regulations. But unfortunately, sometimes these administrators change the reason why we keep on holding these workshops.
