The ruling ZANU-PF Mashonaland Central provincial leadership has been urged to deepen adherence to the party constitution and the dictates of the “Green Book” as the revolutionary party continues strengthening discipline, unity and efficient administration across its structures.

Addressing delegates during a Provincial Coordinating Committee (PCC) meeting on Tuesday in Mazowe, the ruling party’s secretary-general, Cde Jacob Mudenda, underscored the importance of strict adherence to the party’s constitutional provisions as a foundation for principled leadership and organisational efficiency.

He highlighted the need for PCCs to remain fully aligned with the party’s vision, mission and policies while ensuring that provincial leadership remains “ideologically grounded and results-oriented.”

Cde Mudenda was leading a delegation as part of the party’s nationwide provincial outreach programme targeting all the country’s ten provinces, an initiative aimed at strengthening coordination and ensuring the effective administration of party affairs at every level.

“In performing your roles and functions, constitutionalism is, therefore, the bedrock of principled and disciplined leadership,” he said.

“It ensures that power is exercised within clear limits, procedures are followed and justice and fairness prevail. It further guards against arbitrariness and personalisation of authority.

“I, therefore, urge all PCC and PEC members and particularly each PEC secretary within their respective portfolio, to continuously study, internalise and apply the party constitution in the execution of your duties.”

He further called on provincial leadership to harness the influence and authority of the PCC in championing socio-economic development in the province in line with the party’s people-centred policies and the national development agenda.

“International experience demonstrates that robust development provinces can be the engines of national development,” he said.

“In countries like China, Provincial Governments are empowered to identify their comparative advantage, attract investment and drive industrialisation within a coherent national framework.

“The responsibility demands that the PCC plays a central and active role in shaping provincial economies in close liaison with the Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution.”

Meanwhile, Mashonaland Central provincial chairman Kazembe Kazembe hailed the significance of the meeting, which was hosted at the historic Baradzanwa Cultural Centre, describing it as a symbolic gathering that reflects the province’s deep liberation heritage.

“As a province, this is not just any other PCC but a historic event which for the first time has seen us gather here at the cradle of Mbuya Nehanda, a sacred ground, we are honoured as a province,” said Cde Kazembe.

The meeting reaffirmed the ruling party’s commitment to ideological clarity, organisational discipline and grassroots mobilisation as ZANU PF continues consolidating its structures while driving development in line with the national vision.
