GOSPEL music prodigy Mudiwa Mtandwa aka Mudiwa Hood has released his latest new single “10 over 10” which he described as a tribute to God. The single was produced by Cyril Tsiga and is a catchy dance tune which perpetuates Mudiwa’s undefined pseudo-gospel genre.
Tsiga, aka Kindahquet (pronounced Kindacute), also lays vocals on the track which has a heavy influence from Nigeria where he spent four years.
In an interview, the gospel singer who is known for his bling and swag said the song was about how God can change those who believe in
Him.
“This is the best so far of my 2013 edition. I chose the title ‘10 over 10’ because God can uplift you if you put your trust in him and the blessings will keep on showering.
“You can be a star or a prominent personality in your community through him. Look at Dr Philip Chiyangwa. At one time he was selling tomatoes and now he is one of the richest people in Zimbabwe, all because of God,” he said.
Mudiwa said he is a living testimony of how God has changed his lifestyle.
“I can jump high saying my God is good all the time on a scoreboard of 10 over 10,” he said.
He said the song has a chorus with a Nigerian touch of the popular hit, “My God is Good”.
“Music is just like fashion, you need to move with time, hence the chorus is what the people want. Gospel music is like a universal language that can be understood by many. I love myself and God,” he said.
The gospel singer said he also introduced the sakura dance to accompany the song.
“Sakura dance resembles a person who is working in a field. Whatever you are called to do by God, do it wholeheartedly. The dance is like how you will be weeding your garden though some said it is more of pride but, yes you should be proud of your Lord,” he said.
The song has now more than 4 000 hits on You- Tube. However, an accompanying video for “10 over 10” has been released.
Produced by Blessing Mugove Gatsi, the video was shot at Dr Chiyangwa’s imposing Borrowdale home dubbed “The White House”.
Meanwhile, the gospel musician wowed the crowd when he dished out his latest track last Sunday at Prophet Uebert Angel’s Spirit Embassy Church in Harare, where the preacher was celebrating his 35th birthday.
Mudiwa is a devout member of the church.
