Award winning gospel hip-hop artiste Mudiwa Mtandwa will be sharing stage with the South African house outfit Liqui Deep at the Harare International Conference Centre tonight. Mudiwa, who is the only gospel artiste at the show said he is happy to be performing as it is an opportunity for him to advance his calling.

“I see this as an opportunity for me to showcase my talent and performing at HICC is just like performing at a crusade where different kinds of people gather.

“The way I perform will not change because my main aim is of winning souls to Christ.

Actually I am a preacher who happens to rap and not a rapper who happens to preach,” he said.

The group will be supported by artistes such as Ammara Brown, Guspy Warrior, Killer T,  Dadza D and Shinsoman .

The outfit was formed in 2007 and just two years later they caught the attention of the entire nation with the track “Fairytale”.

On the local scene, Guspy Warrior is riding high with his songs “Mona Chamba” and “Seunononga”, while Killer T is the most sought after musician with his songs “Masuspects” and “Garai Mavaudza”.

Through “Fairytale”, Liqui Deep was nominated for the South African Music Awards and went on to bag a Channel O Music Video Award in 2009.

The duo’s tracks have been remixed by big international underground names such as Suges, Raw Artistic Soul, Lars Behrenroth and Aqua Bassino, among others.

The duo describes their sound as original and influenced by Africa’s beat.

They released their debut album, “Fabrics of the Heart” in 2010 which includes hit tracks, “Alone”, “Angel”, “Settle for Less” and “Something About You”.

The album has gone on to garner a string of awards including Metro FM and MTV awards.
