Mudzi North legislator, Cde Benjamin Musweweshiri has embarked on a vigorous campaign to combat drug and substance abuse, especially among the youths.

Cde Musweweshiri is using sporting activities to educate the public on the dangers of abusing drugs and other harmful substances.

The legislator recently sponsored soccer and netball competitions for the youths.

Winners received prize money as well as soccer and netball kits.

In an interview with The Herald on the sidelines of the sporting activities, Cde Musweweshiri said the youths must utilise their time productively, instead of wasting time on drug and substance abuse.

“There should be zero tolerance to drug and substance abuse in Mudzi District and the country at large,” he said.

“Everyone should be involved in this fight, starting with the youths. There is no pride in abusing drugs.

“You are the future leaders of this beautiful nation, but if you abuse drugs, you are destroying yourselves. You will not be able to lead the nation.”
