MUFAKOSE Hustlers basketball club have set their sights on a clean sweep of all honours during the 2015 to 2016 season that begins today. Hustlers have revealed that they are fielding three teams this season to accommodate the abundant talent that the club, in association with Hoops for Hope, have nurtured in the high-density suburb of Mufakose and the surrounding areas.

Mufakose Hustlers’ chairperson Crispen Tsvarai said they are grateful to Hoops for Hope for continuing to develop basketball talent in Mufakose.

He paid tribute to the club’s senior players whom he has challenged to lead the way in bringing silverware to the side.

The Hustlers will begin their quest for glory tomorrow against UZ Stars at Mufakose Area A courts near Tendayi Primary School, which they use as their home-ground.

Their men’s second team will play in the Harare’s B league while the women’s side will battle for honours in the A league.

Hustlers have been playing in the A league for almost five years now, with an average age of 21 years and they have declared 2015 to 2016 season to be the season in which they will transform Harare Basketball forever.

Tsvarai called on the Mufakose community and all basketball lovers to come and rally behind “this exciting basketball project’’ as the league begins.

HBA league spokesperson, Carlos Munda, said they are looking forward to an exciting season with some of the players that competed in the Afro-basketball championships participating in the league.

“It will be a great season because our players learnt a lot from the Afro-basketball tournament so they would want to give back to HBA when the season commences this weekend,” said Munda.

Cameo Sigauke are the reigning champions in the men’s A league and Vixens are the title holders for women.
