Muhammad, the Prophet of mercy and human brotherhood

Sheikh Abdullah Makwinya —
THE entire world of Islam was observing the birthday anniversary of Prophet of Islam from 12th to 17th Rabbiul Awwal (12th-17th December 2016), as a Global Unity Week.

The key emphasis was on developing and deepening unity within the global Muslim community and as well as the entire humanity at large.

The Prophet, whose advent was after great Prophets from Adam to Christ, made an unrivalled contribution to humanity by launching an Islamic nation with the key mission of inviting all people to the oneness of God and human brotherhood.

That is why the annual Unity Week initiated by the late Imam Khomeini lays great emphasis on the shared values that unite world Muslims and others, which is designed to herald the era of real contentment, justice, happiness and opportunities for all.

Therefore, today more than ever before, there needs to be a greater appreciation of the birth anniversary of the Noble Prophet of Islam as it plays a critical role in uniting the followers of the divine Prophets because a shared vision is important for global peace.

What are those shared values? The shared values among the people in general are truth, honesty, justice, human dignity, human rights, and recognition of one single God.

Among the Muslims there are numerous shared values such as Oneness of God, the common direction of worship, belief in the last and final Prophet, Day of Judgment, five daily prayers, the pilgrimage, and above all the Glorious Quran.

Hence the real and befitting tribute to Prophet Muhammad on this auspicious occasion is to rededicate ourselves to enhancing unity and brotherhood with all.
