Mujuru registers party

Harare Bureau
THE Dr Joice Mujuru-led cabal last Friday reportedly notified the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission of its intention to become a fully-fledged political party. However, it is likely to be at odds with another group that is claiming ownership of the name “People’s First”. The group’s spokesperson, Mr Rugare Gumbo, said the party will be known as Zimbabwe People First.

“(On Friday) we officially wrote to Zec to notify them that we are now a political party. Our lawyers also submitted to Zec our party constitution,” he said.

Last night, Zec’s Mr Utoile Silaigwana said, “We received notification from Zimbabwe People First that they are now a political party.

“They submitted the letter on Friday together with their constitution.” Dr Mujuru and several of her colleagues were expelled from Zanu-PF and Government in 2014 for seeking to unseat President Mugabe and abuse of office.
