Mullen’s spirited performance

diva Nicole C Mullen delivered a spirited performance.
The gospel musician, who was on her second visit to Zimbabwe, was in fine form and exuded great confidence.
Clad in a blue skirt, with a pair of jean trousers underneath, a jacket and her trademark bandana, Mullen played songs off her latest album “Captivated” and the audience just loved it, as she spiced the act with songs from previous albums.
It was a spiritual moment for Christians as the diva played uplifting songs like “Holy Captivated” which speaks about a Christian’s relationship with Jesus Christ.
Mullen then performed the song “I Need You” that reminded people of how much they need Jesus Christ in their lives. She reminded people about the importance of asking for forgiveness when she belted out the songs, “Forgive Me” and “Lead Me” off her new album.
The concert was boosted by the “Action” conference that Celebration Centre church members were holding prior to the show.
People jostled to have their photos taken with her during a photo session. Her music indeed touched souls, as she put it in her own words.
“I was called to touch people through my music. Gospel music is the good news of Jesus Christ, and if you serve Christ first, he will take your music, and divide it and feed it to many people,” she said.
Even her mother was elated: “The most wonderful thing is that she (Mullen) knows who has blessed her and that is God and that is who she is singing for,” she said. “The first time I came here I fell in love with Zimbabwe, your kindness.
“One other thing I love about you Zimbabweans is that you are very resilient, beautiful and strong people. You are very smart. I have travelled to a lot of places but one thing I’ve noticed about you is your kindred spirit, and that alone expands the idea of the kingdom of God,” Mullen said.
